MAINTENANCE

As you prepare for your next adventure, take a moment to check your equipment to help ensure you’re ready to embrace the moment. Of course, your GMC is an important part of any excursion, and the battery is a key component. Summer heat can be hard on vehicle batteries, so it’s important to keep a few things in mind and take steps to help ensure your vehicle’s battery health.

The battery is an essential part of your GMC, providing the energy to start the engine. (Note: These tips only apply to traditional under-the-hood batteries.) In addition, it stores electrical energy from the alternator when the vehicle is running and supplies power to accessories when the engine isn’t running. A few of the factors that can affect a battery include short trips, if the vehicle sits or is used minimally over an extended period and leaving accessories plugged in when the vehicle is not in use. Even in the best of circumstances, batteries naturally wear out over time.

To help avoid the inconvenience of a dead battery, have the battery checked when you visit your GMC dealership for vehicle maintenance. The Certified Service experts there can:

  • Look for corrosion on the battery, cables, and posts
  • Utilize a battery tester to assess its overall strength

If a replacement is needed, the experts can help you determine which battery has the proper amount of Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) and Reserve Capacity (RC) for your specific GMC. They can also recommend the right battery for your individual needs and install the new battery for you.

Remember, when it’s time for a new battery or any other service, nobody knows your GMC better than the Certified Service experts.
